I spent two weeks in October traveling to Qatar, Singapore and Nepal. What an adventure and what amazing people I had the honor and privilege of meeting and ministering to. Although I was with familiar friends in each place, it was my first time in each of these countries.
Qatar
My first stop was in Doha, Qatar. This Middle Eastern country is truly unique. Fabulously wealthy from oil and gas, their capital city of Doha, home to 92% of the population, rises in the middle of the desert like a surreal oasis. It’s open and welcoming to foreigners and yet closed. Attempting to convert a national Qatari to Christianity is forbidden and illegal, but they do allow people who have moved to their country for work to worship freely, whether Christian, Hindu, etc. In fact, foreign workers, make up an estimated 88% of the total population.
I stayed with friends, Sunette and Thys, who are active members and leaders at Doha Fellowship. Doha Fellowship is a church of 2000 plus people from over 20 different countries around the world. I had a chance to join them for worship during their weekly Thursday evening service and appreciated the incredible diversity of people gathered together from around the world. I also had the pleasure of teaching at Sunette and Thys’ home group on Friday. I shared a condensed version of our training on Knowing God’s Voice, which was well received and appreciated for its unique approach to more fully recognizing God’s voice in their lives.

Singapore
In Singapore, I connected with a couple different ministries. Ying Hwua, who I met in Mozambique, back in 2017, has introduced me to several people in Singapore over the past several years who have been partners in ministry and become good friends. I was hosted my Oikos Fellowship, a church in the Gelang district of Singapore, is considering the city’s red-light district. For the past 25 years, this church has been reaching out to serve and evangelize in Gelang. The apartment building where I stayed used to serve for a period as a half-way house for prostitutes who wanted to leave that lifestyle. Most recently, they started a pottery studio as a form of outreach. It was an honor preaching at their Sunday morning service.
I also connected with our friend Paul Khoo, founder of the Father’s House and enjoyed a wonderful evening of prayer and worship with some of their faithful intercessors. My last visit was with Jonathan Wong, an Anglican priest who I met when I was in seminary many years ago. Jonathan helps to support and oversee Anglican churches in Vietnam, and we had an interesting conversation about Captivated possibly visiting Vietnam to encourage and equip a couple churches there.
Nepal
Last stop was Kathmandu, Nepal which was the primary purpose for this trip to Asia. We helped to organize a leadership conference with a local church called New Life Mission. Pastor Philemon of New Life Mission oversees several other pastors and small churches in different parts of Nepal and northeast India. Approximately, 50-60 pastors attended the conference, as well as 100-150 people from their local church, during the three days we met. Akeem Adelagun, a friend and trusted minister from Dallas, TX came over to assist me with the teaching and ministry.
Together we covered several topics, including Knowing God’s Voice, physical and emotional healing, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. I also had the privilege of preaching at the ordination of three pastors and six deacons. Throughout the conference, we spent a significant amount of time with prayer ministry and witnessed tremendous fruit as people received healing and were filled with the Holy Spirit. So many hungry and enthusiastic followers of Jesus. What an honor to serve them! Hope you enjoy the pictures below.
